New Me.

I'm going to start with the New Year...

I was inspired to write this post by observing people. At the beginning of the year, the fitness center where I work out was unrecognizable. A huge number of people, all the machines were full, the cardio area was packed, no one had ever seen so much sweat and suffering in one place. And it somehow happened instantly.

I mean, you go to the gym all the time to do something and everything is fine, there are people there, but there are no lines for the machines, everything is comfortable, you don't rub shoulders with each other. And then one day you come and it's a full house. It's as if all the owners of annual passes came at the same time and brought their whole families with them. And I wondered why...

Talking to a trainer between sets, who works at this facility, I heard the following:

"Wait a month and everything will be back to normal. Every year in January it's like that. They are building a new self."

That is, all those who were constantly putting something off finally made up their minds and decided to change something in their lives. Someone started something new at work, someone changed their relationships with loved ones, and someone came for a new body. Everyone started building a New Me.

And it was really great to see everyone working on themselves, there was a sense of cohesion because of this. If you imagine that such endeavors are not only about improving your physical data, but also about other areas of life, it becomes even more pleasant. But the problem is that it didn't last long. A few times/days/weeks of visits and that's it, no motivation, everything is hard, there are too many things that are more important and in general, who needs that gym for a long time until summer.

How important it can be not to try to change the world at once. Not to try to break down the wall at the first blow. We can go the other way and break down difficult actions into small steps that are easy enough to take, but we can do them constantly without looking for reasons to stop. And here I'm not talking about the gym and the people in it after January 1. I'm talking about how many things we don't do because we want results today, now, right away. Or we start doing something and give up after a few attempts. We can do a lot more by taking small steps, but systematically.

February 7, yesterday I was at a training session. There were not many people. Let's start something new today, not on January 1...
