Not because it is worse. Because it looks too easy.

Here is how it usually goes. Someone hands over solid work, done fast. The other side feels it came too quick and asks them to "explore more options". A week later the same idea comes back. Now it has three variants, a short note on why this one, and a list of what was rejected. Approved without edits.

Same idea. The only thing that changed is how much work people can see in it.

The labor illusion. We trust work more when we can see the effort behind it. Hide the effort and people decide the value dropped too. Even when the result is the same.

AI hides the effort. Looking hard used to be proof of quality. That proof is gone now. And the work gets punished exactly for that.

Here is the strange part. The most common fix is to add the effort back. More iterations. More options. A longer explanation. Half of it really does improve the result. The other half is just for show. And people do it anyway, because looking busy is now part of the job.

So the job is slowly changing.

Less "do the work". More "show the work".

That leaves one question. Are we paying for the result, or for how hard it looked?
